(I... Simply Amazing Kata was gorgeous- the people are amazing- the values were amazing. Only thing is the 17.5 hour direct flight to Bangkok from NYC was a bit long. Not long enough though for me to not say that... if you can get over the open sewer!  This place is not the paradise it is cracked up to be - unless you like self absorbed big fat European tourists - or maybe open untreated sewer draining into the sea! Chairs and umbrellas that dominate... Relaxing Kata is one of the most relaxing places. You have no "action" places but quite and nice restarrants, hotels and friendly inhabitants.
if you want action it takes only from 5 to 20 minutes... A great place to chill out Kata is not your girlie bar loud music place - it's a great place to just relax & take stock. The beach is beautiful, quiet & calm, the water is crystal clear and it lends itself to... A real vacation spot I have gone to Kata Beach, on Phuket,Thailand two times and the second time was better than the first.
If you want a place to truly relax, this is the place. Phuket itself is an idealic place...
