look into hostels to stay in, they will be cheaper. as far as how long, it depends on how much you want to see. you could easily spend more than a week in each place. also look into eurail passes: www.eurail.com. you have to buy the ticket ahead of time, but it provides great flexibility in travel. you can consider taking the train at night and sleeping on the train also. you can do it relatively inexpensively by staying in hostels and not eating in restaurants all the time. Europe has great bakeries and cheese etc. go shopping for picnic type food and make your own meals. or you can go 1st class and stay in nice hotels and eat at great restaurants and spend a lot of cash if you'd like. it depends on what you are looking for.

Tough question!First, time. Look up what sort of things you want to do in and around the cities of interest and try to judge it that way. Most cities, even small ones, take a day to walk around, explore, and enjoy. I would give yourself at least two days in all of them. You'll probably need a day to travel, depending on how you travel. You will also probably need a day or two to adjust to the time zones out here. Now, money. Maybe make a list of what your expenses will be. There is obvious stuff like hotels and transportation, but also keep in mind things like currency rates, cost of food, and local trasnport. For example, the euro is about $1.35 right now, and the average dish at a sit down restaraunt where I'm living in Germany will cost you 7-10euro+. You could cut costs by buying some things from grocery stores or eating at bakeries or kiosks for smaller meals. Local transport (such as buses and trains) can be expensive, but usually you can get some sort of pass if you plan on going anywhere far or frequently. Oh, and you can get some pretty great deals on airfare to and from major cities within europe. I've included the links below.I would buy a European travel guide. I own one, and it gives ideas as to how much money you will need per day (in the local currency), how much it costs to get into local attractions, etc. You can find out a lot about the cities you are going to online. I would look up the city webpages and maybe the countries' tourist websites. The more info you have about your destinations the better you can plan what you want to do.Living in Germany, I have a few recommendations. Take a train here, it can be kind of fun, but go someplace relatively close otherwise it can get kind of pricey. There are tons of places to eat and shop at any city, I don't think you'll have a problem. Try the schnitzel, bratwurst, pretzels, and pretty much anything else that comes from a "Backerei" and if you like, the white wine and beer are great here too.

To get to explore different cultures, in 6 countries, starting with money. $100.00 a day , is a good start, plus back up credit-cards, will get you through for food and drinks and some entertainment/excursions. Depending on what you like to do. London is the most expensive place I have ever been to. So I would bring doulbe the amount of money when visiting there. Also 5 days per place you are visiting should give you enough time to capture the excitement and beauty., and the garden variety of things to do. Where ever you stay , the hotel people usually have brochures and ideas of where the local fun is. Enjoy your trip !
