Question : Travel to Madrid or Barcelona?
I'm studying abroad and want to go to Spain. I've heard numerous people tell me to go to Bareclona, that it's absolutely beautiful and definitely a place you have to go in Spain. But then I have friends here with me who are stuck on going to Madrid. What is everyone's opinion out there on where I should go..I apologize for not being clear. I want to go to Spain for a weekend trip. I am NOT studying abroad in Spain. I'm actually already studying and interning in England and am making plans to go on a weekend trip to Spain.

Answer #4 What accent do you want to cultivate because there is a difference between the two towns.I have always loved Barcelona... I spent an extended period in the Yacht Basin there some years ago and loved it. If you want to be near the water go to Barcelona and if you want to be in a very large city and near the center of power.. then it's Madrid. - answered by captmhunt
Answer #5 Edit: Since you are vacationing, I would then recommend Barcelona, lots to do there, unless of course, you still want to mix with the locals more, then I would still suggest Madrid. =) - answered by atlantagal
Answer #6 I would personally go to Barcelona because I want to learn Catalan language and culture. Maybe you should look at your curriculum, and which place offers what you what to study. You can always tour other parts of Spain once you get there. - answered by averagebear
