Question : Visiting Canada for the first time. Super excited!!!!! Renting a car and traveling from Vancouver to Banff.?
Want to get the most out of our trip. So what is the places to see and things to do on this trip between Vancouver and Banff? Any scenic route or of the beaten track suggestions? Where is a good place to stop over and sleep a night? Staying in Banff for about a week and then traveling to Jasper, Edmonton and Calgary with friends. Thanks so much!

Answer #2 Take the Rocky Mountaineer train (2 days) instead of a car! Fabulous journey. You stop overnight in Kamloops (not much there) but the main sights are around Banff/Jasper. hire a car in Banff or Jasper, go on the Athabasca glacier, Lake Louise etc. We've been in late Spring when the snow etc. was still around and it is out of his world, in places like being in a Western film as you go alongside the rivers, over the wooden trestle bridges etc! - answered by luludoodie
Answer #3 I'd have to agree with Camille. It really depends on how you want to meander through the mountains. Kelowna is nice, so is Nelson. Radium hot springs. Kimberley the Barvarian City. The list goes on. But it's a long drive (take the southern route through the East Kootenays, not the northern route). As for your rental car: get something comfortable - an SUV perhaps. As I said... it's a long drive, with a lot of "hill" involved. - answered by penguin

Driving over there is much easier then here not that much traffic. You will see senery that takes your breath away and that will be constant. Remember though to be careful of wild life we saw a brown bear and i forgot to be scared could have caused a problem. there are scattered quaint shops but no big malls it is all about the senery and the people have a great time although I am sure you will - answered by jescikka
