I called the US Virgin Islands visa information hotline (I've listed the number for you below in the Sources section) and they confirmed what I thought was true: as long as your U.S. tourist visa is valid, you don't need a separate one to enter the U.S. Virgin Islands. The reason, of course, is that the islands are U.S. territory, so even though you're getting on a plane, leaving the mainland, and flying over the sea when you visit them, you're technically not considered to have left U.S. soil. (The same is true of other U.S. territories like Puerto Rico and Guam, should you have any desire to visit them in the future!) So as long as you're legally allowed to re-enter the U.S. -- i.e.: as long as your tourist visa hasn't run out and everything is legit -- you're fine to visit the U.S. Virgin Islands without a separate visa. Do remember, of course, to bring your passport, though. Since you're not a U.S. citizen, you'll need that to enter both the Virgin Islands and to get back into the U.S. mainland. Hope that helps! Have a great trip.
