Question : cheap flights?
hey everyone, im going from Boston to Verona and hate booking flights because there are so many search engines and its expensive this time of year. I have flexable dates as to when I will travel. But I will be traveling with a small dog. Any suggestions on where to buy a cheap one way ticket?

I found that sometimes the best way is to call airlines direct. Sometimes the internet is cheaper, sometimes the phone operators are cheaper, sometimes travel agents are cheaper. Check out all three to make sure you get the best deal. There are a few other simple suggestions you should follow too:-- Roundtrips are usually cheaper than one ways. Even if you're not going to fly both legs of the flight, check into getting a rountrip ticket.-- Choose the same airline for all legs of your itinerary whenever possible so you can take advantage of all connecting and round-trip airfares.-- Try to fly on the least popular days: Tuesday, Wednesday or Saturday.-- Remember that Saturday night stays are usually required for most bargain airfares.-- Try to select the least popular flight times: mid-morning or late evening.-- Check with discount airlines for cheaper fares.-- Try to book as far in advance as possible. Generally try to purchase your tickets at least 21 days in advance of departure. Many airlines also have specials requiring three-, seven- or 14-day advance purchase.-- In general, the cheapest airfares are available in the spring and summer.-- If you travel around the holidays, book your departure and return flights a day or more before and after peak travel dates. If you're flexible, you might benefit by waiting until the last minute to book your flight because major carriers often run special sales. These sales, however, often have a long list of rules, restrictions and blackout dates.--Consider booking tickets that come with restrictions because they also come with a cheaper price tag.-- Consider using alternate airports near your desired airport. The extra drive can save you hundreds of dollars.--Be as flexible as possible with your dates. If I can be of more assistance, feel free to contact me.Good luck and I hope you have a wonderful trip!

You have an Italian or European passport? Or work, residence, or study visa for a Schengen country? If not, then you can't even board a flight to Italy on a one-way ticket, without proof of onward travel outside of the entire Schengen zone within 90 days. Assuming that's not an issue....It's often cheaper to go to Ireland or the UK on 1 ticket, then to Italy with Ryanair. However, with a dog, I think you're better to go with 1 ticket, with a reputable European airline such as BA, Lufthansa, KLM, Air France, or Swiss. It might be bad booking a flight that connects in southern Europe with Fido possibly sitting on the tarmac or in the cargo hold in hot weather, so that's why I suggest these airlines specifically. Plus, all of these have nonstop flights between BOS and their hubs in Europe.
http://www.itasoftware.com is good for finding cheapest days to travel in a month-by-month search. Once your dates are settled,
http://www.bookingbuddy.com is good for sniffing out the cheapest places to book your tickets with the airlines I mentioned, or go direct to the airline's homepage to book. ITA does not do bookings, it just points you to the cheapest flights so you can book on your own and save the fees.
