Well for one its not necessary to bring any heavy winter clothing with you!Travel as you normally do and travel as light as you normally do so you can load up and bring back lots of Good Costa Rica Beer - IMPERIAL & IMPERIAL LIGHT like $2.50 a six pack in their Grocery stores together with lots of their Good Coffee which goes for about $2.75 a Pound in their Grocery stores! If you are going to pay more than $50.00 for a good looking hooker - you are over paying! Only use a Taxi where the Driver speaks English, - other wise you will end up paying a lot more and always establish the amount of the fare before starting your journey with him!Example - When I get to San Jose I know the Taxi Drivers ask from $12 - $15 to take me from the Air Port to Hotel Delrey which is downtown San Jose.I go out and yell that I want a Taxi for $6.00 - and believe me there are lots of takers!Buena Suerte!yVIVA LA PURA VIDA!

It depends on what you are looking for. The terrain varies from beautiful beaches ( bring sun block, the sun is INTENSE), to mountains (might need a sweater). I would bring things to trade or give away. Baseball style hats are nice trade items Small trinkets for children, It's a good way to meet people and make friends. Be careful in San Jose >>> it's a big chitty, and like all big chittys it's dangerous.Travel by bus is cheap, but the roads are bad. Costa Rica is an early country, busses start by 5 am, and quit by 9 pm.Enjoy your trip

I always like to bring an extra bag to bring things home in. I always bring back coffee and some good rum.
