Question : How does pay work on the pro tennis tour?
Are players assured a particular amount depending on where they finish, or is it an estimate based upon gate receipts and other factors? Also, how long after a tournament do players get paid? Weeks? Months? And how much does an average touring pro spend a month traveling, paying his entourage, and so forth? Or maybe to put it another way, what kind of money is a guy making in the men's tour who is ranked in the top 30, and how does this differ from someone ranked, say, 58th? (Like Philipp Kohlschreiber of Germany, who made it to the quarters in Rotterdam and will likely move up in the rankings next week).

Answer #2 Each tournament has an amount they award to the winner, runner up, semi finalist, ect, all the way down to first round loser. A guy on the tour ranked around 30 can make a varying amount of money based on a lot of factors. Just talking tennis terms though, a player in that range makes about $250,000.Also factored in are these things-if that player is the only good player from his/her country, they can get good sponsorship. Some tournaments give money incentives to the top players to come to their tournaments (much like tourneys pay tiger $1 mil to just show up). - answered by Skywalker_NatureBoy
