Question : Any Scenic Drives / Things to do near Lake Tahoe ?
We are traveling back to Lake Tahoe again in May to see Sammy Hagar perform at his Cantina there, Cabo Wabo, do a little gambling, visit with friends etc. We do not ski or do any of the "snow" activities and have did all the Lake things, like driving around the lake, boat tour, hiking, etc. We are looking for a day trip, scenic drive to somewhere else in the area. We thought of Yosemite but the back road into the park will probably still be closed in May so I think the drive there would be too far to go all the way around. Any other suggestions for these out of towners? Places to eat, neat things to do (nothing too physical), scenic drives?? We love photography so anywhere to see and photog unqiue is a plus! Thanks!

I don't know which way you're coming from. Have you been through Truckee Pass and Donner Lake via Rte 80? That's some pretty rugged country you might find entertaining. It's also a major rail pass, so if you like trains at all, there's always that.

If you enjoy wines, you might want to consider a wine tasting trip to the wineries of El Dorado County. There are some lovely wineries with great wines. Most wineries in this area do not charge for tasting.
