Question : What documents do I need to travel to Negril?
I have seen conflicting things on different websites regarding documents that are required. I am a Permanent Resident of the USA and do not possess a current passport. According to a person at Immigrations and Customs, I do not need a passport since I am not a US Citizen. I need to know for sure if I will be able to enter Jamaica without a passport and if I will have any problems returning to the states. any help?

To get to Jamaica and come back to US you NEED to have a passport (since Jan 1st 2007). Get it ASAP. Some hotels are offering compensation for the passport fees if Jamaica is a fist stamp in your new passport.

They now require passports from anyone coming from the USA. They usually accept birth certificates or drivers license but now it is strictly passports.

http://travel.state.gov/travel/tips/brochures/brochures_1229.htmlI was having the same issue. I'm planning a trip to Negril for April. All you need is a passport. You can actually get one within two weeks it's just going to cost you more money. If you go to the airport trying to board a plan without one your going to be highly upset when they send you home.

I am having the same issue. I do however have my passport from my original country. My dilemna is different, I've been married since the issuing of my passport so not sure if I need to have that changed before I travel. My driver's license has both last names and my permanent resident card is in my maiden name. I'll be asking that question seperately. Anyhow, I digress! In order to travel from the US and back as a permanent resident you must have your permanent resident card and your originating country passport. You should contact the most local consulate of your original country for details on how to apply for one. You won't be issued a US passport until you are a naturalized citizen. Hope that helps.
