Question : Do I need vaccinations 4 travel 2 Puerto Vallarta?
I am going to Puerto Vallarta soon with a few friends who have been there before. I trust that they are experienced with traveling to Mexico. But someone had questioned if and vaccinations are suggested for travel to Mexico? I wasn't sure, and nobody mentioned it to me. Anything else I should know before going there as a "first timer"? Thank you!

No vaccinations are needed for Mexico. Be ware of new changes of passport and travel requirements that will be effective as of January 27/2007 that your friends might not be aware of:

No, you don't need vaccinations. A tip, do not buy from the barters on the beach when it comes to jewelry. I know they are just trying to survive but by the time you get back home, the jewelery either falls apart or tarnishes. Just kindly tell them no and they will move on. Buy from in the town especially along the Malecon for jewelry.

No vaccinations needed but you will need a passport as of 1/7/07 if you are travelling from the US. It's a beautiful city. We honeymooned there and loved it. Make sure to drink bottled water. The resort we stayed at had extra filtered water on site and I drank that during our stay and had no problems but off site I only drank bottled water. We had money exchanged to pesos at the bank here in the US before travelling out of the country and that was a BIG mistake. They charged us a huge fee and the exchage rate was not as good as it was in Mexico. There are plenty of places to exchange your US dollars when you arrive so don't be worried about not having pesos upon entry into Mexico. Also, Puerto Vallarta is a tourist town so the condo market is HUGE...be very wary of those who are trying to sign you up for things in the airport or upon arrival at your hotel they are trying to sell you time shares and condo rentals. Just tell them no if you are not interested especially if they ask you for a deposit. There are several entertainment companies that offer excursions locally such as pirate cruises, dinner sails, and mountain trail rides. My husband and I especially enjoyed the sunset dinner sail around Bandera Bay. We also did a Dolphin encounter which I loved. These excursions are reasonably priced and really a lot of fun. Most are a short taxi ride away and can really show you a lot the city. These excursions can even be booked prior to your trip online through sites like travelocity and orbitz. They are usually cheaper when booked online rather than waiting to book them when you get there. The shopping downtown in the market was so much fun. Don't forget to visit the boardwalk and the beautiful statues of the seacreatures that line it! Enjoy Mexico!

Don't worry about vaccinations. Drink bottled water and eat at clean, healthy-looking places. remember that getting the tourists sick is bad for business so you haven't too much to worry about.
