Question : Can I travel from Stockholm to Athens via Budapest, having my Greek ID card? (Hungary is not yet in Schengen)?

Answer #2 Well, the problem is not Hungary. Schengen only means that there will be no custom check. You can enter Hungary without a passport. The problem is with the following countries (Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria - depending on which way you go). They are not EU countries yet, although Romania and Bulgaria join in 2007, so if you only travel next year, you can go through those countries. - answered by Babi
