Question : Whats the cheapest way to travel between Boston & Montreal?
We want to visit Montreal after New Years for a week. We are short on cash, is it better to go by train or bus? We dont want to rent a car. Thanks!

A greyhound will take about 10 years, Amtrak all the way!

Greyhound would be the best option ($90 round-trip for one with a 7-day advance purchase for trips on mondays, tuesdays, wednesdays and thursdays!! so hurry up and book online with Greyhound!!) . I don't think you should consider Amtrak because you'll have to do boston-NYC and then NYC-Montreal which is way longer and more expansive (about 200$ roundtrip for one). Greyhound.com

Econdrone does not know what he is talking about. There is no direct train route to Montreal from Boston. You would first have to get to NYC, and then the train takes about 10-12 hours from NYC to Montreal, depending on how long it takes at the border....it's really not worth it.Greyhound has several departures per day, and one of them - the express - takes only 7.5 hours to get to Montreal from Boston. However, another option you may want to consider is ride sharing. There are a lot of students who travel at this time of year, and if you check craigslist and the classifieds of local universities, you may find someone willing to give you a lift in exchange for a bit of gas money.
