Question : Difference between New Vallarta and Puerto Vallarta?
My fiance's family is from Mexico and are traveling to the Puerto Vallarta area for the holidays. They want me to come down for a week to be with them, but they told me to make sure it is the new puerto vallarta.....what does that mean???? I know in Jalisco there is a Nuevo Vallarta and a Puerto Vallarta. Is Nuevo Vallarta where they are going?? Or is there a newer section of Puerto Vallarta? I am going to call them to find out, but it has been difficult to get in touch with them. I just wanted an idea. Thanks for any help!

I went there on holiday and I never heard of New Vallarta. Hope you have a nice holiday. But honestly the place is nothing special.

Nuevo Vallarta is actually in the state of Nayarit and Vallarta is in Jalisco. Nuevo Vallarta is the new hotel zone north of the city and airport and is not walking distance from DT.If you want to walk around to shops, restaurants and the malecon ... you head to Vallarta by taxi or bus.

Neuvo Vallarta is a planned resort area. More on the lines of Cancun. Big hotel and restaurants. Puerto Vallarta is a city that hotels and great restaurants grew up around. I love t Peurto Vallarata. Here is a great map that shows the different areas.
