All Answers: Answer #1 You are taking your life into your hands if you travel in an R.V All you are is a rich gringo ripe for the plundering. The bandits will have you cleaned out in now time. The roads are improving but I would use extreme caution as in some countries they are not as developed, Guatemala for example could prove interesting. This is not something I would recommend anyone do. - answered by nmp948
Answer #2 This is a real bad idea. If you have to ask you do not know enough to do such a thing yourself. Panama itself is very safe see: http://www.panamalaw.org/panama_crime_and_safety.htmlThe other countries are high crime. - answered by panama7777777
Answer #3 Of course you can do it, and as a matter of fact there are people who do it all the time. There is a group from Texas that makes the trip every year. It is better to travel in numbers, of course, so if you're considering making this drive then you might want to hook up with a couple of other RV's and do a caravan. Take the time to research your requirements for border crossings and things like visas, and don't forget that you might have different requirements for inoculations so be sure to bring a current shot record. And from listening to others who have done the trip before I would recommend bringing extra spare tires because the roads are not very good in places (especially Nicaragua). And if you are going to bring pets or animals remember that they have their own requirements for border crossings. Just go slow, take your time, and plan ahead and you should be fine. I know other people that have done the trip on bicycles, Harley's, and walking. - answered by americans_in_panama
