Question : California to Colorado?
What's the best route to take from Santa Barbara, CA to Fort Collins, CO. My bf is traveling thru the Rockies thru Idaho and Wyoming. Does anyone know how bad the snow is right now? Or where I can find out what the weather is like??

the sierras are with snow but the highway department in those areas keep the snow and ice pretty much scraped off till november. get on highway 101 to nevada and go ahead into colorado.stay south of idaho.

The best route is I-15 north and mapquest suggests this route also( I often disagree with mapquests routings but in this case they got it right, although their times are still suspect )Take !-15 thru Vegas uphill through the stunningly beautiful Virgin River Gorge and make a right on I-70 east. and head for Denver1200 miles is too far to drive in one day so I would spend the night in Grand Junction CO which still gives you an 850 mile day and you don't want be driving in the Rockies tired and at night.BTW on I-15 at Baker CA there is a great Greek burger/gyro's/salads place . nothing gourmet but still really good
