Question : Road trip starting in Vail Colorado. - Where to go?
I just want to know places around that people would recommend going to. I will have about 8 days to travel. I don't mind which direction I set off in and am as happy to see nature or cities or both.I like food so good foodie markets or restaurants would also interest me.I don't want to spend hours and hours every day on the road thought.Any ideas appreciated, I am from UK so it will all be new for me anyway.

Head west on I-70. Visit Zion and Bryce National Parks, possibly head south to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. Then go North on I-15 and visit Salt Lake City area. Continue north towards Idaho Fallsand take Rt 26 into Jackson, Wy. Enjoy the beautiful Grand Tetons and Yellowstone National Park. Continue east til you get to I-90 and follow it over to the Black Hills/Mt. Rushmore/Crazy Horse area near Rapid City. You could make a short side trip to Devils Tower (featured in Close Encounters of the Third Kind). Then, head south on Rt 18/20 to get to I-25 south. Enjoy Cheyenne, then head to Rocky Mtn National Park for fantastic natural beauty. Go into Denver if you have time, but it's just a big city. Otherwise return to Vail via Rt 40 and I-70.That my friend is the highlights of the Western US without touching California. If only you had more time.
