Check with EuRail at www.eurail.com. or www.italiarail.comIf you want to drive, it should take about 5 hours, 500 km (300 milies) and should cost about Euro 120. Gas and toll roads.Of course, the cost of an auto rental has a lot to do with the mode of travel. It is not worth renting unless you plan to return the vehicle to the point of pickup. Drop off charges are outrageous.Go to www.eni.it (AGIP's website), click on English, go to traveling with AGIP.Rental cars estimates can be obtained by simply going to a major rental company's website and typing in the country where you want to rent. Hertz, Alamo, Entreprise, etc.

Train, baby!!! I've always used them. In switzerland, it is the Swiss Rail Service (SBB/CFF) and is found at the following link (available in 4 different languates):www.sbb.chI just came back from Lausanne 2 weeks ago. I flew to Geneva and took the CFF to Lausanne. I also used it to travel all over Switzerland and neighboring countries (Germany, France and Italy). Very easy and convenient. The Train Station in Geneva is just outside the Airport. Once you exit the Geneva airport, it is literally 30-60 meters to your left (depending on which doors you exit). Have fun!
