Question : My husband, my one year old and I are travelling to Quebec City near the end of August.?
We are staying just within the wall of the old city, at the Lowes Le Concorde. Can anyone give me any suggestions of activities catered towards my son and any suggestions of restaurants or things that Mummy and Daddy would enjoy where a rowdy one year old wouldn't be too annoying? Also the hotel offers a babysitting service, like all mothers I am somewhat dubious of this. Has anyone used a service like this before and what questions should I be asking to make sure that this service is safe? Thank you!

i wouldnt trust any kind of service in canada.....let alone canada....the streets are filled with crime and rampant drug use...as well as being known as one of the filthiest countries in the world....Also the a staggering 74% of the population has an STD....so i would plan my trip elsewhere

Not too sure about hotel babysitting in Quebec City area. If you like camping there is a great place with a pool on the south side of the St.Lawrence, 10 minute drive to downtown, cept at rush hour. For a nice day trip drive along the north side of the river from Quebec City to the ferry to Riviere Du Loup and return to Quebec on southern side . Beautiful views. 1 year old can get feet wet at a few places, plus a boat ride. Nice time of year to visit. North of Quebec City is beautiful as well, worth a days drive.

hmmmmmmmm... there are some activites in the old city that are child appropriate, but I don't know how a one year old would fare. Place Royale is extremely interesting and the shopping is incredible, but of course there is the breakable items factor.I can't say much about the babysitting services. I would think the city would have some sort of Chamber of Commerce you could check with. When in doubt, ask the locals.

Quebec City is a beautiful place to visit and generally very safe for families and students. As a high school French teacher I have taken two groups of high school students to Quebec City and never had the slightest problem.There is a wonderful Creperie right next to the Chateau Frontenac that serves lots of good luncheon food and is generally very comfortable and noisy. Another GREAT place to eat for kids and adults both is Le Cochon Dingue down by the St. Lawrence River - super food and a really cute atmosphere. Generally, though, I found that children are welcome at any restaurant. Service in Quebec City is friendly and accomodating.There is a lot of good shopping - mostly of the souvenir variety downtown, but some nice malls and such on the outskirts near Universite Laval. It will probably be nice to walk around the Old City - the upper part as well as the lower part - with your son in a stroller you can still get up and down without using the steps if you use the funiculaire. There's a wax museum (no need to be quiet), lots of historical museums, and the old fort has an outdoor tour in English or French that you and your husband would probably find interesting.I have two children and would never leave them with a hotel babysitting service, in any city in the world, no matter what they would say to "guarantee" my child's safety. Just take your son along - you will all be happier for it!Have a great time!

i suggest you learn french as all signs in Quebec are in that language
