Westminster Abbey is a great place to go, and the Houses of Parliament are right next door. Also, I really enjoyed St. James's Park and Hyde Park and Trafalgar Square--all of these places are in the Westminster area. You should also take a cruise on the river. If you want to go to a pub, Covent Garden is the place to be, but it will be super crowded. You should be fine to go alone, but to be on the safe side, go during the daylight hours. Also, if you like naval history, take the tube to Greenwich Village to the National Maritime Museum and Royal Observatory. One of the best ways to see the city is to get on an open-top tourist bus. You buy a ticket that lasts 24 hours, and the buses go all over the city, and you can get on and off at any stop. The ticket I bought came with a ticket for a river cruise down the Thames, and I had a very good time.

I love London. I have been twice, by myself, and I am female. It is perfectly safe. But, the Cotswolds aren't actually in London, but rather are a region in England quite a bit north of London. You'd have to take quite the train ride (almost two hours) to get to them. The Cotswolds region includes the towns Stratford-Upon-Avon, Bath, Swindon, Milton Keynes, Oxford, and many more.Stonehenge is in Wiltshire England, west of London, by train, about an hour and a half (again, quite the journey). The Botanical Gardens are in London (get off at the Kew Gardens tube station in the very west end of London). Also, check out other touristy places like the Tower of London, The London Eye, Madame Tussaud's, Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace, Picadilly Circus, Tower Bridge, Trafalgar Square. The tube is definitely the way to travel in London. It gets you quickly from points a to b, and is very user friendly. Although, alternatively, travel above ground on the bus is efficient, but can take awhile when traffic is heavily congested (seems like almost always). But you'll get to see alot more. There are so many pubs, try out a few. Have fun, and don't worry.

Hi, Here's what I always pass along! Wow...you're in for a treat! Wear good walking shoes because London is a superb walking city. Bring a good map of the city and begin. Be a happy tourist and first hop on one of the major red double decker tour buses which afford you a perfect overview of London and you can "hop on and off" as often as you please...some for two days! I love www.theoriginaltour.com ! Highlights (see www.londonwalks.com): National Gallery, Trafalgar Square, Tate Modern Museum, London Eye, Covent Gardens (great shops n restaurants), St. Paul's Cathedral, Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, see a play!, Harrods, Harvey Nichols, Tower of London. Know London has many beautiful parks which can be your oasis when needing a rest. Kensington Gardens in one of the world's wealthiest areas - See Princess Di's Kensington Palace and shop Kensington High St. and wander up Church St. for boutiques and such. Nearby: Royal Albert Hall, Science Museum, Natural History Museum and Victoria & Albert Museum. Hyde Park connects to Kensington Gardens. Explore Chelsea for boutiques as well. St. James Park - beautiful, sole restaurant inside. Green Park - high tea at the Ritz, Fortnum & Mason, Picadilly Circus (think Times Square). Shopping streets: Oxford, Bond, check for weekly markets...BUY "TIMEOUT LONDON" weekly magazine. Boat trip on the Thames - a must. Don't forget - you can take the EUROSTAR Chunnel train to Brussels or Paris for day trips (2.5 hrs +/- each way!) Also visit lovely Bath and Stonehenge nearby...an easy trainride from London.Hope this helps. Have a fantastic time! :)

I don't think any female should go to a strange places by herself without taking someone El's. If you are having second thoughts about going alone and if it is safe than don't go or take someone 6'6 and 250 pounds Ha Ha!!
