Answer #5 For the moment, you only need a U.S. government issued I.D. in order to travel to Puerto Rico but there are rumors that in the future you may need a passport. Best thing to do is to contact the airline/airport that you will be using. JetBlue is the least expensive going/coming to P.R. Stay towards the east side of the island (San Juan, etc.) they have more things for you to do and places to see. The west side of the island is very country like and very few attractions; unless that is what you are looking for. Be cautious of the many bad drives here. Have a delightful and safe trip. Take care. - answered by mothergoose
Answer #6 They are part of the US so you need no official docs other than your drivers license. Have fun!! - answered by Travel Agent
Answer #7 I live in PR and the only thing you need if you are a citizen of USA is your state ID or driver license... You might want to check with the airline to see if your return trip home u will need it... I don't know how long u plan on being here but u might want to bring your passport or birth certificate just in case they do pass that law... but usually u don't need it... If you are visiting the area of San Juan be very careful... the are a lot of murders in that area... I live in Aguadilla which is on the west side.. we have beautiful beaches here live the Crash Boat and Jobos beach which os located in Isabela.. the is a great Villa called Villa Montana that is located on Jobos beach.... we do have a water park called The Cascadas... its really cheap too... 15 bucks for adults and 10 for kids... you can make a picnic basket and leave it in the car... u can also leave the water park and don't have to pay to get back in... also we just opened up a ice skating rink in the Pueblo (downtown) and a skate board park... Aguadilla is a very relaxing place with the best beaches of the island... I hope u have a lot of fun here... I know u will.... - answered by mrs_igartua
Answer #8 It's ok travel as long as you have some kind of I.D. since Puerto Rico is a U.S. Commonwealth - answered by JessicaBrooklynNY
Answer #9 Well since P.R. is a U.S. territory you shouldn't need a passport, but we're having some problems with them. So, I strongly suggest you bring it with you (rather be safe than sorry). Also, you should know....that even though Aguadilla is a beautiful city......P.R. in general is Beautiful. In the east you have Luquillo (El Yunque), Fajardo (from there you can go to Culebra and Vieques). In the south there is Ponce. In the west there also Rincon, Mayaguez, Cabo Rojo.Last but not least, in the north there is San Juan, Bayamon, Guaynabo, Dorado, etc. And you shouldn't have a problem with the "crime problems"..........that's bullshit. There are great hang-outs in that area. Obviously, you should always be careful in a new place, but there's nothing to worry about. You'll have a lot of fun in P.R. Every part of the island has its charm....you'll love it! - answered by Aloha
Answer #10 You are absolutely correct... All you need is your state ID... - answered by lilly_mom_pr
Answer #11 You can travel with your id and birth certificate (if you're from the US) instead of the passport but I think beginning this December you're going to need a passport even for domestic travel. You can't check with an embassy because Puerto Rico doesn't have one..it's the US embassy.. - answered by Yar
Answer #12 Just your driven license, it's like going from state to state, if your a USA citizen. If you're not a USA citizen is like going to a different country, you will need your passport and all that! - answered by Little Red Bear
Answer #13 I think there are too many confusing ideas going on in the answers of these people aboveYou need a U.S. ID. (passport or DL) That's it. You would need the same things that you need when you travel to one of the 50 states, as simple as that.People up there are suggesting places to visit. First, someone said that San Juan is in the east of the Island. Not true. San Juan is north, norhteast. Best place to go first if haven't visit the island before. You don't have to worry about crime if you are not a drug dealer or anything. If you are into that business then start getting worried. You may find some adicts begging for money. You have two options. Ignore them or give them some coins. Don't open your purse to give them money. Some of them (not all of them) may steal from you. Overall, pretty safe. - answered by gsegurah
