Question : Airline medical travel programs? Have ill daughter. Live in Alaska. Must travel to Seattle often for treatment
My daughter has systemic juvenile arthritis She is being treated in Alaska and is involved in a new drug study. (current treatment diminishing returns). The new treatment is only at Seattle Childrens Hospital. Several treatments later, she seems to be improving but finance dept. is not. Do any airlines or charities provide assistance for this kind of situation?? I am sure I'm not alone I hope. We have approx. 14 more visits this year. can't move down right now but family first!!! Thanks in advance.

There is a program where private pilots transport people for medical treatments at no charge. I can not remember the name of the organization. The red cross or the hospital may know the name of them and how to get in contact with them. Good luck, I hope your daughter continues to improve!

I'd recommend talking to someone in the social work department at Children's as it is fairly common to set up accounts where people donate unused frequent flier miles to cover your tickets. The airlines are not known for their generosity these days! You'd probably be doing a lot of the leg-work in getting people to pony up their miles but if you give it enough exposure, you would be surprised at how many free miles you get!
