I went once, over several days, in the opposite direction. It is not difficult but I would recommend flying unless you have 3 days or so to pass.First of all, get a Eurail pass. This will cover almost all of your costs for rail travel except for reservations.Second, by the time you enter Denmark, you will have to choose whether you are going to take a boat from Hirtshals to Kristiansand / Oslo (maybe you'll have the opportunity to go directly to Oslo by boat but I wouldn't count on it) or if you are going to travel through Copenhagen through Sweden and then to Oslo, entirely by rail. Note that the Eurail pass will not cover the boat ride but you will get a significant discount on the fare and it will save you about 16 hours on the train...not to mention you get a beautiful ride and the always tempting (in scandinavia) opportunity to shop duty free. With the trains, you will have a lot of choices but when you get your Eurail pass, you may not have so many. You will select which countries you want your pass to valid in and the more countries, the more money it costs. So for example, I wouldn't put Holland on my pass because it's not essential, although it may be quicker. You can go from Brussels eastward through Cologne and then north to Hamburg or you could get to Hamburg through a nice ride through Holland. Holland is beautiful from the train and I would recommend it if you have the money for it. Either way, you are going to take a train to Hamburg.Next, there is a train that enters Denmark from Hamburg and rudimentary knowledge of the German language will be of great help here. You will get on the train and move north to Kolding (pretty sure, but not abs. certain). From Kolding, you will make this decision, to go on through Sweden or to go as directly as possible. The ride through Denmark is nothing special but the Northern part of the country is spectacular, although annoyingly windy and meteorologically unpredictable. Again, think about whether you need to have sweden on your eurail pass.If you go through Sweden, you might have the opportunity from Kopenhagen to go directly to Oslo but you will probably go Gotteburg to Oslo. Perhaps you will even go directly to Stockholm (through Gotteburg) and then from Stockholm to Oslo. I've been in Stockholm and it's a great city. Why not?Otherwise, you'll get the ferry from Hirtshals which is just four hours and one train connection away from Kolding. Then, you will cruise to Kristiansand a beautiful seaside town and great spot to do some fishing in the ocean or nearby rivers and streams. Trains to Oslo are pretty easy to get from there.
