All Answers: Answer #1 for starts portugal is not a big country so if you drive you can rent a car and take your wife to fatima... if you go by the interstate it only takes 2 hours max... but you waste a day.there are lots of interesting things to see in lisbon... like jeronimos monastery, torre de belém, lots of museums, like the national museum of ancient art...parque das naçóes is on the other side of town, and is good for a walk and to see the oceanario, one of the boggest aquariuns in europe, not to be missed...castle of pena is in sintra, another place you have to visit, is unesco patrimony of humanity...and a charming litke town...my advice is that you walk to the city, speacilly the baixa pombalina, rebuilt after thr earthquick of 1755...if you need everything e-mail me to catia_morgado@yahoo.comis always a pleasure to assiste people that visit my beutiful country - answered by katja

Answer #3 Katja's answer is actually quite good.Although I'll leave you with a few more tips:If your wife really wants to visit Fatima, and therefor loose a day in Lisbon and vicinity, avoid going at Saturday or Sunday due to expected overcrowding, remember that 13th May is one of the most expected dates for pilgrims. Take advantage of the rest of the day and visit nearby UNESCO World Heritages Monasteries of Alcobaça and Batalha, easy reachable from Fatima for example in your journey back to Lisbon. Even closer to Fatima is another World Heritage site, Tomar with its Castle Convent and old town. But you have to chose between Tomar or Alcobaça/Batalha.Back to Lisbon region, during the visit to Sintra, apart from Palacio da Pena and Palacio da Vila, find some time to taste the wonderfull Travesseiros and Queijadas in Piriquita in the heart of the village. A afternoon walk in Guincho beach and finally treat yourself in a late dinner in one of Cascais restaurants. If you decide not to take this route and go to Sintra and Cascais seperately, travel by train insted.Regarding Lisbon itself, I think you should not miss Mosteiro dos Jerónimos (World Herritage), Torre de Belem and Padrão dos Descobrimentos, a visit to Centro Cultural de Belem is apropriated if you're into art, finaly taste the world famous Pasteis de Belem, all within walking distance in Belem area. Moving towards East, in Baixa area, trace a route that includes Terreiro do Paço, Rua Augusta Rossio, Praça da Figueira, Restauradores, Av. da Liberdade. Baixa is a big valley between two ofthe seven famous Lisbon Hills, Alfama and Bairro Alto, both not to miss for a walk between small streets and alleys with 200+ years old. Castelo de São Jorge is a spectacular view over Lisbon. Advice I particularly find very interestig and worth a visit to Lisbon's 4 Lifts and Funiculars http://www.carris.pt/en/index.php?area=servicos&subarea=servicos_ascensores_bicaThe Expo area very nice revitalisation of an ex industrial area rebuilt for Expo 98 Universal Exposition in Lisbon, Museums and outdoor areas includes Oceanáro, Europe's largest Aquarium.Finaly if you like panoramic views, why not to try the unique view over Lisbon from south bank in Santuario do Cristo-Rei, a replica of Rio de Janeiro's Christ, The Redeemer, that literaly hugs Lisbon. Located in Almada and reacheble by a pleasant 15min. boat trip from Lisbon's Cais do Sodré pier to Cacilhas and then by bus.Welcome to Portugal! Enjoy your stay! - answered by pedrokas007
Answer #4 i live in south Portugal and have visited Lisbon many times. if your wife wants to go to Fatima and therefore you only have two days to see the city i strongly recommend getting a driver for one day to take you round all the sights. Depending on your budget you can take a cab (cab drivers have immense knowledge of the local area and sights) or hire a private car. Its not expensive and this way you ensure you get to see everything without losing time getting from a to b and getting lost! enjoy your trip! - answered by ms_millar
