Question : How come the U.S. government doesn't fix the roads going into your National Parks?
One year we were on motorcycle traveling into the Yellowstone Park and there were so many potholes and it was raining cats and dogs. The Park Ranger didn't bother to tell us how cold and miserable it would be for people on a motorcycle. He just ushered us through without caring that there was no place to dry out or warm until we got into West Yellowstone. Needless to say I was so cold I had hypothermia!

All Answers: Answer #1 Were you expecting him to point out there was no roof on your motorcycle? It is a national park for God's sake, not Disneyland. As for the road maintence, NPS funding gets slashed every year by the Bushies. - answered by Scully
Answer #2 The entry booth at Yellowstone Park issues a newsletter to every traveler that shows road maintenance, visitor tips, rules of the park, possible weather, has maps and schedules, everything the traveler needs to know.I suspect, like many tourists, you probably were too busy to pay attention. We have visitors here to Yosemite park in the winter who come in their beach wear, and are surprised they can't go through the park to the desert on the other side without chains. Sometimes the road is closed completely. And don't get me started on lack of funding. I felt so sorry for visitors from Japan and all over the world who actually got turned away, because the park was closed down when congress refused to pass a budget a couple of years ago. - answered by The_Mystical_Lady_Y
