Question : How do I find out about travel between panama and guatemala?
I would really like any information possible on getting between guatemala and panama without flying. www.ticabus.com doesn't seem to work anymore and am keen to know how long it will take, how much it will cost and whether such buses exist! Please please help and thank you so much

All Answers: Answer #1 it is possible. I did it a few years ago. your right on tica bus. I used them its a day from panama city to san jose, then a day to managua. then either san salvador or tecicugalpa for another day and then an easy one to guat city. try to arrive in guat city at a good time during the day. they take you right through the borders. show you movies on board and cost from $10 to $40. take the direct for faster safer, but I enjoyed also taking the locals buses. Go down to your library and check out Lonely planet. it has all the main schedules. no problem though there are many buses. just use safe methods in the stations. one turn of your back and they got your bag. I had my wallet stolen out of my pocket in San jose at the end of the bus ride. someone will make a distraction, the other grab and run. just dont have valuables and its not a big loss. you can also remember your credit card number then call the states and Western union yourself money if you get stuck.but not to worry you its a fun way to go. - answered by vwkombi
Answer #2 you could also investigate about driving between those two countries. maybe, worldwide rental companies for cars could have this opcion. also, you mentioned www.ticabus.com does not appeal to you. so try some other bus companies either in guatemala or panama. as a idea, split it from panama to costa rica in tica then other lines from san jose to guatemala. hope it helps. - answered by panama54
