Situated on the River Ouse and flanked by historic city walls, York is a delightful place... Nice Place, but Touristy York is very pretty and -- in many ways-- quintessentially English.
The people are pretty nice, too. I even had a lady who could see that I was lost and offered me directions to the train station... Visit York if you can. It's been awhile since I've been there, but I absolutely loved visiting York. I went on a week-end, and they closed the center of the city down so you could walk around easily. There were... York's history is the history of England! York is beautiful. A delightful mixture of the old and new. TONS to do and see and its easily done on foot. If you like history, you'll love York's layers of Roman, Viking and Norman... Can't beat it! We go to york twice a year on average, We love its culture, the friendlyness of the people, and the way we discover something new each time we visit, if you havent visited york before you will have... YORK it enchants us every time| This was a well recomended establishment. From the time our plane landed all the way to the hotel room. I've never felt more enchanted in my life.
This is definately a place that I want to... What I Saw Visitors taking the train from London to Edinburgh should consider a stop-over in York--either for the day or, better yet, for several days. The center of the old medieval city is walking distance... Great stop on London-to-Edinburgh trip York is a great destination in England. York Minster is the largest Cathedral I have ever seen, try the ghost tours, the outside city walls. Don't forget the Pubs in York, not only a great place... Great town The best city in England by far!
